Ce chauffeur VTC en Tesla Model S a dépassé les 300.000 km

Ancien taxi devenu VTC, Philippe Marchal exerce en Tesla Model S depuis 2015. Basé à La Ciotat dans les Bouches-du-Rhône, il vient de dépasser les 300.000 km. Son véhicule est toujours en parfait état et la batterie n’aurait perdu qu’une cinquantaine de kilomètres d’autonomie. Il nous confie son expérience.

La fibre écologique, Philippe l’avait déjà au lancement de son activité de taxi. Dès ses débuts en 2012, il souhaite exercer en voiture électrique. Mais faute de choix, il se tourne finalement vers une Toyota Prius 3. « Je voulais attendre que Tesla s’implante à Aix-en-Provence avant d’acheter » explique t-il, soucieux de pouvoir facilement entretenir son futur véhicule. Trois ans plus tard, la firme californienne ouvre ses premiers locaux dans la région ainsi que deux superchargeurs. Dans la foulée, Philippe contracte un crédit de 83.000 euros et passe commande d’une Tesla Model S 85.

Une clientèle fidèle

En janvier 2015, il réceptionne sa berline électrique après trois mois d’attente. C’est l’une des toutes premières Tesla utilisées comme Taxi dans les Bouches-du-Rhône. L’homme effectue principalement des courses médicales et séduit ses clients. « Beaucoup voyaient une Tesla pour la première fois, il étaient bluffés », explique t-il, assurant que l’étonnement est toujours présent aujourd’hui. « Certains clients finissent leur nuit quand je les emmène très tôt le matin à l’aéroport grâce au silence » explique Philippe. Peu à peu, la Model S fait son effet et le chauffeur de taxi se constitue une clientèle fidèle qui le choisit « par souci écologique ou par confort ».

Recharge compliquée

Les recharges ne sont pas simples. Il progresse au départ dans un véritable désert, le département accusant un important retard dans le déploiement de bornes publiques. « Les infrastructures locales, c’est nada, zéro ! Je passais mes journées au superchargeur de Meyreuil ! » explique t-il. Si la situation n’a pas beaucoup changée depuis, Tesla a nettement facilité la recharge de ses modèles en installant deux nouveaux superchargeurs autour d’Aix-en-Provence.

Le taxi recharge chaque nuit à son domicile, sur une installation qu’il s’est lui-même fabriquée. « A 2000 euros avec l’installation, la wallbox n’avait aucune pertinence » explique t-il. Équipé d’une simple prise P17 de 32 ampères activée pendant les heures creuses et un adaptateur, il charge jusqu’à une vitesse de 32 km/h.

Ni Heetch ni Uber

En 2017, Philippe vend sa licence de taxi pour évoluer en VTC (voiture de transport avec chauffeur), plus rentable selon lui. Il crée alors sa société, « Jarod Electric Transport », toujours basé à La Ciotat. Son portefeuille de clients lui suffit, il ne s’inscrit donc pas sur les célèbres plateformes telles qu’Uber et Heetch. Sa Tesla Model S nécessite peu d’entretien malgré les 120.000 km parcourus en moyenne chaque année. Ses cotisations d’assurance n’ont pas augmenté depuis qu’il est passé à l’électrique.

De plus, les 1200 euros du crédit qu’il doit rembourser chaque mois jusqu’en février 2020 sont en partie compensés par l’absence de frais de carburant. « Je payais 750 euros d’essence tous les mois avec la Prius » explique t-il. Au final, Philippe estime l’effort financier à 100 euros mensuels entre son ancien véhicule et sa Model S. Avec en prime une belle montée en gamme, de nouveaux atouts commerciaux, une emprunte écologique considérablement réduite et un véhicule particulièrement attrayant.

Aucun problème technique majeur

« La Model S, c’est la voiture idéale pour le transport, elle est très abordable pour un professionnel » vante Philippe. « Elle est silencieuse, belle, haut-de-gamme et il y a plein de petits services comme la data illimitée » ajoute t-il. En quatre ans, le chauffeur a cumulé plus de 330.000 km au compteur de sa berline électrique. Il a effectué seulement deux révisions et n’a rencontré aucun problème technique majeur.

Sa Model S est cependant passée quelques fois au garage : une première intervention pour un « problème de membrane pincée sur un moteur » provoquant un sifflement dérangeant, totalement prise en charge par la garantie. Plus tard, un changement de poignée de porte endommagée facturé 1000 euros pièce. C’est d’ailleurs l’un des rares reproches que Philippe fera à Tesla : le prix élevé des réparations, mêmes mineures.

Usure modérée de la batterie

Le chauffeur procède à un changement de pneus tous les 50.000 km, une opération coûtant environ 200 euros par roue. Aussi surprenant que cela puisse paraître, les plaquettes de frein n’ont jamais été remplacées. « Quand j’ai fait la révision des 200.000 km, on m’a dit qu’il en restait encore assez pour faire autant » explique Philippe.

La batterie de sa Model S n’a pas non plus subi d’usure extrême au regard du kilométrage. En quasiment cinq ans, « j’ai perdu 55 km d’autonomie » assure t-il. De 400 km d’autonomie réelle au départ, il lui en reste donc 345 km. « Au début je faisais trois supercharges par jour, j’étais tout seul donc je ne savais pas que ça diminuait la durée de vie des batteries » confie le chauffeur, certain qu’il aurait pu minimiser la perte en évitant les recharges rapides répétées. Il accuse également les mises à jour à distance qui font régulièrement fluctuer l’autonomie « après les explosions (plusieurs Tesla Model S ont spontanément pris feu il y a quelques mois, ndlr), une mise à jour m’a enlevé 10% de batterie » assure t-il.

Faible décote

Cotée à 38.000 euros désormais, Philippe estime que sa Model S a une belle valeur de revente « contrairement à d’autres véhicules thermiques comme les Mercedes qui finissent à 10.000 euros au même kilométrage ». « L’investissement de départ est élevé mais à l’usage c’est beaucoup plus économique » explique t-il. Il compte bien conserver sa voiture et tenter d’atteindre les 800.000 km, inspiré par les déclarations optimistes d’Elon Musk, le patron de Tesla. D’ici quelques mois, Philippe passera commande d’une Model X pour intensifier son activité. Il envisage d’embaucher un chauffeur salarié ou de la louer à des professionnels.

En parallèle, il s’est associé à James Morlaix, un autre VTC électrique bucco-rhodanien qui a dépassé les 370.000 km au volant de sa Tesla Model X. Ensemble, ils souhaitent lancer une application smartphone pour permettre aux clients locaux de réserver facilement une course en taxi ou VTC 100% électrique. Baptisé « J2ETS », l’outil proposera un tarif forfaitaire ou au kilomètre pour chaque course. Le paiement s’effectuera directement auprès du professionnel contrairement aux grandes plateformes comme Uber.
